Russian at Fort Delaware

Nichole Danilovich, a bachelor sailor in New Orleans prior to the war, was mustered into the 10th Louisiana Regiment. He is reported to have been wounded at Second Manassas, and at Gettysburg was captured on Culp's Hill. Taken to Fort McHenry and then to Fort Delaware, he evidently took the oath of allegiance and was mustered into the 3rd Maryland Cavalry in September 1863. He is one of the few documented Russians serving in the Civil War and any additional information on him would be appreciated.
