I am the gg granddaughter of Thomas Bazar and Jane (Hogan) Rye Bazar. My grandfather, Robert Edgar Bazar (1899-1968), son of Jasper"Jap" Henry and "Betty" Elizabeth Brunt Bazar, gave me oral information one summer evening when I was a girl. My mother wrote notes as follows. Jane was born in Miss had 2 sons from her first marriage. John Thomas returned from the war more than two years after other veterans made it back home. The family had not heard anything from him and assumed he was dead. After greeting his children, he and Jane went into the back room of the house, closed the door, and when they came out, they never talked about where he had been. If you know any Bazars you know that they are talkers and the family always thought it was strange that the mysterious absence was never discussed. Speculations abounded. Did he have another family? In any case, he was proud of his confederate service and kept his uniform in perfect condition so he could be buried in it. However, he was visiting family that November, 1920 in Dibble, Oklahoma when he died and his uniform was back home in Texas, so he was not buried in it. Jane had died in 1912 and was buried in Mt Carm(el?), Texas outside of Waco. My grandfather thought Thomas was born in Alabama.

Jasper was born in La Oct 26, 1871 and married Elizabeth (born Aug 17, 1881 in Miss) at Alto, Texas Feb of 1898. He died 1/1/39 and she died 5/11/. Both are buried in Jacksonville,Texas.
Elizabeth Brunt was born August 17,1881 in Miss. Her parents were Jessie (He was from Mississippi) (?-1932) and Mollie (?- 1928-9). Jessie was a tall man, around 6'3" or 6'4" and stuttered.
