Fort Delaware prisoner

4th Sgt. J.D. Calloway Company B, 15th Alabama Infantry imprisoned at Fort Delaware from July 6, 1863 to October 30, 1864 placed the following notice in the 1910 October issue of the Confederate Veteran Magazine, with a comment he made on his stay at Fort Delaware. " Dr. J.D. Callaway, of Goldthwaite, Tex., Box 125, would like to hear from some of his old comrades. He served in Company B, 15th Alabama Regiment, having enlisted at Midway, Barbour County, now Bulloch County, Ala., and was in all the battles of his regiment up to Gettysburg, where he was wounded and captured and sent to Fort Delaware, where he says he suffered more from starvation than anything else in his life."
