I can find no other Union POW records on Footnote that pertain to him, or to men with names of Robert, Robt., with and without the middle initial A. There is no R. Clark in the 22nd Va. and the 22nd Va. was not engaged at Fredericksburg/Chancellorsville in May 1863.
I suspect that the Union POW records may have gotten the regimental identification wrong.
This interest in R. Clark POW stems from a 1907 Virginia pension application of Robert A. Clark of Henry County who claimed he served in H/42nd Va., enlisted in May 1863 at "Spotsylvania C.H.." was captured, spent time in prison and was a paroled prisoner at home when the war ended. There are no 42Va. muster rolls for 1863; and the one 1864 H/42Va muster roll covering the period April 1864 to 31 October 1864 does not show him. No other warime records support his service in the 42nd., but two members of the 42nd attested to his service in support of his pension application and the pension was approved.
Perhaps there is more information in the Fort Delaware records that might clarify the unit that R. Clark was serving in when captured in May 1863.
