Hello again Judith, this is for my records more than anything else. There were two soldiers by the name of Ephriam V. Frye and William Johnson who were both members of Company H of the 6th Kansas Cavalry. Frye was a Corporal and Johnson a private. The 6th Kansas Cav. was in DeVall's Bluff on June 5th 1865. However the regiment was mustered out on early August 1865 in Leavensworth, Kansas. The two could have very well been mustered out in June of 1865 due to their time in a Southern prison. The 6th Kansas Cavalry was active in Missouri and current Oklahoma or Indian Territory. Camp Ford, an infamous Southern prison located near Tyler, Texas must NOT be counted out. Knowing a little more of their unit and position it looks like they could have been sent to either Ford or Cahaba Prisons. I will let you know for sure when in DC.
