Thanks Mr. Elliott, It wasn't my memory. I was just "driving my mind" entirely over it's speed limit! I was in a hurry when I wrote the note and year and did not re-check my typing or my brain! Thanks for the kind manner is which you reminded me. My g-gf had just turned 18 years old in Jan 1862 (enlisted Aug 1861) and there he was off to an unknown land on a strange looking steamer! (He lived in the middle of Carroll County Mississippi, so he had probably had never seen a steamer.)
