Col. William Andy IRVINE

Hi, I am looking for W.A. (William Andrew) IRVINE born in 1843 in Kentucky, who married Annie Taylor ELLIOTT in Madison Cnty Ky in 1868. I have found the Irvine's in Arkansas during 1880 and Kansas on the 1895 census, but have found no war record of him really being a Confederate Col. with Morgan's cavalry as his obit reads below.

I found a W.A. Irvine as prisoner in Camp Morton where other of Morgan's men were held ... but don't know if it's really him. What I don't understand is a Confederate moving to Ft. Scott after the war since it was Union held and then going by the rank of Col. if it wasn't so. I have found Privates and Captains under his name but no Col. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Suzi

After the war was over, Col. Irvine married and came west. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Pawnee County , Kansas and was interested in the founding of Larned and Pawnee Rock. He afterwards removed to Eureka Springs , Arkansas , where he engaged in business for some years.
