I've been looking at and "zooming" on this photo, http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/10434.html . As you look at the Confederate soldiers, it appears many of them are wearing Union sack coats. Undoubtedly, some of these "Rebs" are in dark gray jackets, but I'm curious if anyone knows whether Confederate prisoners were issued any clothing in these prison camps and were some of the items Union uniforms?
Thanks,
Jim
P.S. This is a fascinating and clear image that allows one to look clearly at the face of average Confederate (and Union) soldiers.
