The Civil War Prisons Message Board

Re: Immortal 600 from Mississippi

We are putting together a primitive history of CSA 18th MS Inf Regiment and of the men in the unit from Yazoo and other nearby counties.

All three of our family soldiers were captured at one time or another.

I recall seeing some history of the military prisons both in the North and in the South. I especially remember seeing a pen and ink drawing of some soldier, who was barely living as a result of starvation. A more poignant picture, I have never seen.

Can anyone refer me to some article on the www about prisons, and especially one that had this sad picture on its cover?

Gratefully
