Thank you, Alice, for your response. Zeb Cantley was with Hood's Brigade, 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company B (Reagan's Guards. According to Anderson County (Texas)Genealogical Society he was listed as an original non-commissioned officer: Cantley, Z. W. "Zeb" 4th Cpl. - resigned as Cpl. May 31, 1862. Wounded and POW Antietam. Died of wound.
This was originally published in The Tracings, Vol. 5, No.1, Winter 1986 by the Anderson County Genealogical Society. copyright assigned to the East Texas Genealogical Society.
He was a single young man in the 1860 census, Anderson County, TX. So most likely would not have had a wife at enlistment, therefore, there shouldn't be a pension record.
I am trying to find where and when he died and where he might be buried. Hugh answered that very well, which I appreciate.
Thank you both for your timely responses.
