Frank, I have mostly worked with the 7th and 3rd Miss. Inf. Regt., and that seems to be the case of these two units. Both units started the war with somewhere close to 1,000 I don't have the exact numbers, but I seem to recall after Atlanta, both units were running about 500 effectives. I am not sure of the numbers after FI can I Franklin and Nashville, but I can look up the numbers. It was said after these battles one company of the 3rd slept under on blanket, just two men left. I found that another fascinating fact I committed to memory.
