The Civil War Prisons Message Board

Re: Early War Galvanized Yankees

Bryan:

Let's switch to the Society's new e-mail address < society@fortdelaware.org > for information exchange purposes.

I have extracted information from the State of Connecticut's published rosters for the 1st Connectictut Cavalry, and I have photocopies of the Maryland rosters for the 3rd Maryland Cavalry. These sources are similar to Bates' "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers" in the amount of information provided, but not as detailed as Booth's Louisiana records. Information also appears in the Fort Delaware Society database that was harvested from prison transfer and hospital records pertaining to Fort Delaware. The ultimate goal will be to get copies of the CMSR for their Union service from family members and other interested researchers.

I will get David Price's permission to swap data on Ahl's Battery.

I will be most surprised if you have found records of Arkansas soldiers who were allowed to take the Oath and join the U. S. Volunteers at Fort Delaware. There should be several who were sent from Fort Delaware in September 1863 to Point Lookout where they "galvanized" at a later date in 1863/1864.
