Re: The Immortal 600 were Confederates

Everyone,

I wanted to make sure to give a rudder steer to those that do not frequent these Message Boards often and when a string seems to get off track as this one has. If a person with little knowledge of the War Between the States first looked at this string as it is now they would think that the Immortal 600 were Federals soldiers; they were not.

The Immortal 600 were 600 Confederate Officers that were placed on Morris Island, South Carolina by the Federals in an attempt to keep the Confederates from shelling the island. About one-third of their number survived. This was considered ungentlemanly then and today it is considered a war crime and should not be forgotten.

I hope this gets us back on track.

Respectfully,
