I had e mail from another forum board stating that according to his military service file, Gauley was taken prisoner at Murfreesboro Tennessee by A.M. McCook's Cumberland army on Dec. 28, 1862 and that he was taken to Camp Douglas and then three months later exchanged at City Point on the James River near Petersburg, Va. and went home on furlough. Also, I had checked a book in the library with the list of prisoners in Camp Douglas, and Gauley was listed. I don't remember the name of the book as it has been several months ago. I think the regiments of McCook's cumberland army that might be relevant would be Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. That would narrow the list down some about the Robert McKees. What do you think?
