Re: CSA POW's at Louisville, KY

Ken, END3 would be Engineman, Diesel, 3rd Class. (E4). Uncle Frank's pension records, submitted new each year, indicate he suffered greatly from rheumatism, That he blamed Camp Douglas for, and which severely aggravated the shoulder wound he had. A minie ball went in the front of his left shoulder, broke the shoulder blade, and came out near his lower spine. He was wounded May 8 or 9, and was still on sick leave when captured on July 11, 1864. The last 12 years of his life he was pretty much house bound, as an invalid. After he died in 1899, his widow completed the pension forms each year. The narrative got shorter each year, until 1924, when she died, she wrote, "he went to the war and it killed him." She got the pension. Fourth Sgt. Uncle Alex was not wounded, and was captured October 19, 1864, at Cedar Creek, while the 18th Georgia was assigned to Early. He was released at Pt. Lookout, also in June, 1865. He walked home as well. Stan
