Well, after checking online resources about the book you mentioned, the editor says that he was in the Navy, so it appears to me that they are one and the same. Can't recall where I got the original info as it was long ago and I didn't document it at that time. Since Navy records are not available as are Army records I have no idea where to locate if it is true and what ship etc.etc. except may writing to NARA, of course. Thanks!
