Re: Union Transports at Island No. 10

Did the transports go through the canal built by Colonel J. W. Bissell, or did I get it all wrong?
If so the "Assault and Logistic: Union Army Coastal and River Operations 1861-1866" by Charles Dana Gibson and E. Kay Gibson mentioned a number of small steamers with barges in tow that made it through the canal although it does not give a specific number of them (p. 83). It also gives a list of auxiliaries and chartered auxiliaries used by Western Gunboat Flotilla during 1861-1862 (pp. 559-560).
