Re: Capture of CSN steamer Fairplay!

The Fairplay was captured by Federal Gunboats on August 18, 1862, at Milliken's Bend in the Mississippi River. She was commissioned Tin Clad No. 17, USS Fairplay on September 6, 1862.

Served defending Ft. Donelson, Tenn., 3 Feb. 1863. Pursuit of Morgan's Raiders up the Ohio River, July 1863. Engaged a battery at Bell's Mill, Cumberland River, Tenn., 3-4 Dec. 1864. Sold 17 August 1865 and became the Merchant Cotile. Broken Up 1871.
