Re: CIvillian boats Converted into Gunboats!

The Bunker Family Asscciation has been compiling genealogical records for over 90-years. Our records indicate Granville A BUNKER, born 1826 in Trenton Maine; died 11 Feb 1866, about age 40, at sea on the USS MORSE. This info is from a gravestone. It's interesting to see Civil War Fanatic claims civilian ship were placed into service during the early days of the CW, yet USS Morse does not appear on the naval rosters (that I find). Granville BUNKER does not appear as a CW veteran or casuality. Dying after the close of the war, may be the reason.
However, thank you both for confirming the ship's exhistance. I would be most interested in additional information about the Steamer Morse.
