Howard, I can find no listing for Martin L. Lauber in either the Callahan volume, LIST OF OFFICERS OF THE U.S. NAVY, nor in the index volume of the OFFICIAL ARMY REGISTER (of Volunteer Officers).
However, there are other sources that should be checked, which are not currently available to me. As with sailors on the CSS ALABAMA, one should not reject this out of hand, if one cannot immediately locate more data.
There was a Martin Lauber (also shown as Larber) indicated as having served in a Missouri unit, but no mention of Naval or Medical service. Also there was a William Lowber shown as a Naval surgeon, having been appointed in 1847, and still in service at the time of the Civil War, but I assume that this is not your man, as he continued in the Navy, in a Medical capacity till long after the end of the war.
