The logbook of the DeKalb does not still exist/cannot be located.
Ed Bearss, with all his connections, was unable to find the Cairo's decklog.
Like the decklog of its "sister" ship, the Cairo, the DeKalb's decklog apparently went to the bottom of the Yazoo with the vessel.
Its absolutely a fact that neither logbook is where it should be, in the National Archives.
The NARA records do not show anything about the decklogs ever existing after the vessels ssnk.
