Trent Affair was Re: Union Coal Torpedoes
In Response To: Re: Union Coal Torpedoes ()

RR Frazier asked about the Trent affair. There are several good books specifically about the Trent affair, as well as dozens of other books which mention it within various contexts. The three books I have which are directly related to the affair follow. Evan John, Atlantic Impact 1861, is a good readable monograph without footnotes published in 1952. An even more straightforward book is Theodore Roscoe's The Trent Affair, November 1861,a "juvenile" illustrated book that I thought quite well done. Norman B. Ferris wrote a thorough, footnoted scholarly tome entitled The Trent Affair a Diplomatic Crisis. It covers the diplomatic wrangling extensively. I think there are some newer academic studies, but I do not know titles. Can anyone suggest some more -- or perhaps on websites?
