My mistake for posting links to the replicas rather than the authentic. Here is the Friends of the Hunley link to the coin recovered by "Maria Jacobsen, Senior Archaeologist on the Hunley project" from the wreck. I assume is with other Friends of the Hunley recovered artifacts though I do not know.

If this coin was red leaded, and he was obsessively rubbing it, that is an entirely different image than I had of him rubbing a gold coin with what we know of lead poisoning today.
