Thanks for the input, Jack. I'd read reference to the Cincinnati Gazette article mention of Brown's papers being captured in an article by Tony Hays. Considering the force projected during the first six months of 1862 it amazes me that the Southern Confederacy lasted the period of time it did. It appears that the papers did not make it to Gideon Welles' Navy Department, but were used by the Western Department. No sign of them at present, I believe they'd be a really interesting read. Hank
