Here's a puzzler. On July 16 after the fleet passage, Mate Wilson of the Arkansas stated that he and others were taken to the home of a Mrs. Cox at Cox's Plantation for recuperation. It was supposedly two miles from town (though I have seen a reference to Union soldiers the following year stopping at a Cox's plantation 8 miles out). In any event, can anyone tell me 1) the full name of Mrs. Cox and 2) the location of the plantation, i.e., which direction from the city. Thanks.
