Cairo, January 1862
I'm looking for documentation to confirm that US Grant, Andrew Hull Foote and Charles de Arnaud met in Cairo, Illinois, in early January 1862 to discuss the Tennessee River Campaign.
I find no reference to the meeting in the Official Records, Grant’s memoirs, Simon’s Papers of Ulysses S. Grant, Tucker’s biography of Foote, or Jay Slagle's biography of Seth Ledyard Phelps. I have Googled extensively using various spellings of "de Arnaud" and have found a lot but no mention of the meeting.
