A number of books list the armament of the Essex River Ironclad, but I can't seem to find which guns were actually aimed out of the four forward-facing bow gunports, and whether the two of these guns that were on the outside were on pivots such that they could also fire out their nearby respective starboard and port gunports. Does anybody know?
