Wiard Guns Aboard?

Norman Wiard, Canadian by birth and an ordnance engineer by trade, came up with two rifled cannon accepted by U.S. Ordnance. Though accepted as land weaponry I'm wondering if any water types grabbed one or two of the sixty-odd tubes cast by O'Donnell Foundry in New York City? These guns were bored as 6 and 12 pounders, launching Hotchkiss bolts and were made out of semi-steel. Wiard had his contracts cut out from under him. His product was superior to those being made by those who had the political connections.
