Confederate Navy officers who died on a single day

While recently doing research on the subject of Confederate Navy personnel, I found out that the largest number of Confederate Navy officers, who died, of any cause, on a single day, was six, who were drowned in the sinking of the blockade runner JUNO (also known as the HELEN). Although a blockade runner, the JUNO was officered by eight members of the Confederate States Navy. Two of these eight survived the foundering of the vessel, though one of these two later died, prior to the close of the war. Although there were exactly the same number of CS Navy officers who died in the boiler explosion aboard the CSS CHATTAHOOCHEE, not all of them died on the same day, as three of them lingered on for a couple of days or more, before they died of their injuries.
As for the six who died on the JUNO, not all of their deaths are recorded in the volume, REGISTER OF THE OFFICERS OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES NAVY, 1861 - 1865, so this publication is not as thorough as I once assumed it to be. Mr. David Sullivan, of Rutland, Massachusetts, has been collecting data on the officers of the CSN for an updated version of the REGISTER, for a number of years now. So hopefully we will soon see a much more thorough biographical register of the officers of the CS Navy. Dave is also attempting to collect uniformed photos of the officers to include in this volume, so, if there are any descendants of the officers of the CSN who hold such images, please contact Dave at DSulli7872@aol.com
