Special Orders, Nos. 89 and 92, also included the names of Army personnel who were transferred to the Confederate States Navy (see URL to web site, CONFEDERATE ARMY TO NAVY TRANSFERS, below). I suggest you contact the National Archives, who should be able to provide you with the list of names from S.O. 90. Sloan's name is not amongst the rosters of CS Navy personnel in the Naval Official Records. However these are far from complete. You should also contact the Alabama Department of Archives and History to see if they hold any records.
