Roy, there are profiles of the careers of both these vessels in volume 2 of the DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN NAVAL FIGHTING SHIPS. There is a web site containing this information which you should be able to access via one of the search engines. There is also a list of personnel of the CSS BEAUFORT, for the period from late 1861 to early 1862, in series 2, volume 1 of the Naval OFFICIAL RECORDS. As well, there are several references to both vessels in the volumes of the Naval OFFICIAL RECORDS. These volumes can also be viewed online, although it is very much more convenient having the volumes at hand.
