Since I have seen the Jackson, the author must have missed it; either through ignorance or not counting river craft. I thought it was intersting the commanding officer and the Black pilot, upon whom success depended, were killed. I think I would have kept the pilot aboard the attack boats until the ship was secured. Without him, the success of the attack was wasted. I wonder if he joined the attack voluntarily or was sent into harms way needlessly. Stan
