Re: Which depiction of CSS Nashville is correct...

Dave,

There were two CSS Nashvilles. The sidewheel cruiser was also known at the CSS Rattlesnake. It had served as a cruiser early in the war but was bottled up in the Ogeechee near Savannah. She ran hopelessly aground approaching Fort McAllister, GA while trying to make it out. On Feb. 28, 1863 USS Montauk took up position before Fort McAllister and soon destroyed the beached Nashville/Rattlesnake.

Parts of the main mechanical members of the ship have been brought up and are on display under a large outdoor picnic pavilion at Fort McAllister.
