Not an answer, but another bit of information from an article on Capt. James B. Woods of New Orleans on his 75th birthday from "The Daily Picayune," 11/14/1899 -

"At the breaking out of the war he owned and commanded the New Falls City, at that time one of the finest in the St. Louis and New Orleans trade, which was destroyed up Red river by the federals."
