Spurious Data - Aborigine on CSS SHENANDOAH.

I was contacted yesterday, by a gentleman who indicated that he had seen a mention of an Australian Aborigine who had served aboard the CSS SHENANDOAH, and thanks to Mike Hammerson of England, I was able to view this particular post, as shown below:

"To: stainlessbanner; All
thought you might like to know that the CSS Shenandoah had the ONLY Australian Aborigine in the whole CSA military force as a GUNNER.
he served till the bitter, bloody end & went home to AUS & disappeared into the Outback in 1866.

the curator of the Australian "Civil War Museum" says that there is a "story" that he walked off the whaling ship that he had returned home on and "left a pile of clothes" at the end of the dock & "went for a walkabout, as God made him". (had to LOL at that image!)

I have copies of the shipping articles of the SHENANDOAH, which show all the enlisted personnel, and after much recent research, I can safely say that no Aborigine is listed as having served on that cruiser. The gunner aboard the SHENANDOAH was Peter Guy, an Englishman, and, as we all know, no commissioned position would have been given to an African American, let alone an Australian Aborigine. I am trying to get in touch with this Australian curator of the "Civil War Museum" who first gave out such spurious data, and I believe we know who this is - someone who is known for sending out false signals, often.
I have not yet come upon any Australian Aborigine who ever served in the "Confederate forces" though there were Caucasian Australians who served. However, we do have some information on Aborigines who served in the UNION Navy.
