I'm sorry I can't help you with your search. I just wanted to mention that my Grandfather, Joseph Gableman, was also a Landsman on the USS Clara Dolson. From what I understand, the Dolson was a training ship. My Grandfather then served on the USS Peosta. It's possible they knew each other.

My records indicate the Dolson was also a "receiving " ship base in Cairo, Il, when my Grandfather served on her in 1863.
