Ordnance orders for the portion of the Western Gulf Blockading Squadron were entered in the Sundries Ledger of DuPont as being ordered by Messrs. Flotillo. They were not entered as a Naval Department purchase.
Included in the January 1862 ledger entries were billing for powder and mortar rounds, some stated as being delivered at Frankfort Arsenal. Lots of #7 cannon powder delivered in 40 pound barrels.

U.S. Navy Department ordered fuzes of #7 composition delivered to the Washington Navy Yard on Jan. 9. Farragut mentions want of "the increased number of 15-second fuzes at the earliest day practicable."in in a memo to A.A. Harwood of the Ordnance Bureau on Feb. 10 along with orders for more ordnance stores. The list of ordered material is not included in the ORN.

Any reference to the training of the XIII inch mortar crews appreciated. Some training was done at Key West, but detailed mention is unknown to me.

Alleghany (Sic)Arsenal got piles of ordnance billed to them at the same time.
