Allaire Iron Works was located in Southern New Jersey in an area called the Pine Barrens. They worked Bog Iron, a sedimentary form of Iron Ore. A lot of foundry work done in Newark, New Jersey under this name.
Contact the New Jersey Historical Society and the Speedwell Mansion for more information about Iron and early steam development. Speedwell has a lot of the records of Stevens work on steam at Elizabethtown Point.Both places can be accessed over the internet.
If you are lucky enough to find a copy of "Steam for the Millions" by Capt. James Harmon Ward, please let me know of it. State of the art for steam, 1860.
