I don't know for sure, but there's a good possibility that's my great grandfather. I haven't researched the subject thoroughly but I know from the 1880 census that he lived in Chicago. According to the family story, he and his wife Jane (Jenny) Byram (maiden name Baldwin) were drowned in Lake Michigan when their lumber schooner sank. My grandfather Charles Edward was a small boy of 3 or 4 at the time. He was born in 1886, so the sinking would have been 1890 give or take a couple of years. That's all I know at this point. That's very much for your post; you've given me a great new thread to follow!
