According to Compendium of The Confederate Armies/Alabama, author Stewart Sifakis Charles P. Gage commander they were organized at Mobile,Al. on Oct. 10, 1861 and armed with 2 three inch rifles and Two 12 lb. Howitzers on april 6-7,1862. they surrendered under Lt. Richard Taylor commanding the department of Alabama, Mississippi and east Louisiana at Meridian,Ms. on May 4, 1865. Battles Shiloh(April 6-7,1862) and Mobile(March 17-April 12,1865). They were officially know as Alabama 2nd Light artillery Battalion, Company E. Captains were James H. Hill and James H. Hutchinsson. I will check THe confederate Veteran to see more on unit!
