That could explain the current coloration. (If anyone can add confirmation or opinion please do.) According to the OR when the contents of the Tennessee were inventoried by the U.S. Navy the day after the battle S-5 was listed in position #2. Knowing there were 4 6.4" in broadside and a 7" fore and aft,mounted in pivot,I assume position 1 to be bow and therefore position 2 the stern. The OR doesn't specify. Thoughts?
