1st Indiana Cavalry - Ellsworth Guns

I am interested in any information that anyone may have of the 3 small artillery piece that were used by the 1st Indiana Cavalry while that regiment was in service in Arkansas.

I believe that these were what were commonly known as Ellsworth Guns, Small, steel, breechloading rifle artillery with a 1.5 inch bore and fired a 2 pound solid shell. These guns were used in the Battles of Helena and Pine Bluff as well as many other smaller engagements.

When the 1st Indiana Cavalry was reorganized in 1864, and many of these veterans returned home, this artillery attached to the regiment was turned over to the 2nd US Colored Artillery at Pine Bluff.
