Mr. Bergeron,

Just a couple of practical observations. Being an Armor officer, a Civil War Historian, and having some experience with horses here are my observations. Two horses will not pull 25,000 lbs any great distance not taking into consideration undulating terrain, which only compound the problem. The standard for a wagon was typically a four mules. A wagon typically would have 1,500 to 2,000 lbs depending on the terrain it was expected to cross.

It would be interesting to see what type of weapon he is referring to in the article. The only thing I can think of for the time period is the Gatling gun but honestly I think that is about two years too early.

Interesting though. I will keep my eyes and ears open. You may want to contact the Armor Museum on Fort Knox, KY and see if the historian there has anything in their files.
