Re: Bell Cannon
In Response To: Bell Cannon ()

There is a "bell" cannon from the Leed's Foundry in New Orleans located today in the Boone County Historical Museum located in Belvidere, Illinois about 95 miles northwest of Chicago. It is believed that it was part of Semples' Battery and is, perhaps, the cannon that fired the bolt which killed Colonel Garache, General Rosecrans' aid during the battle of Stones Rover, December 31, 1862. They have a very plausible history of the piece. No appointment necessary. Just a good small town county museum.
