Artillery of Price's Missouri Invasion

From the "Fremont Journal," Sandusky County Ohio, November 18, 1864, (Vol. 12, no. 46, New Series).

"Price . . . brought into Missouri sixteen pieces of artillery -- two Parrotts, two James rifles, two brass mountain howitzers, two iron howitzers, six smooth bore guns, and four very light steel rifled guns. Of these guns two were captured at Independence, one disabled at Jefferson City, one burst at Westport, and nine were captured by Pleasanton. So that Price had but three left, and two of these the light pieces for which he had no ammunition."
