It took awhile, but I finally stumbled on his record misspelled Newpent.

Unfortunately, records for surnames through ’N’ for Capt. Hoskins’ Battery, Light Artillery (Brookhaven Light Artillery) were not microfilmed and therefore were not incorporated in the on-line Fold.3 records. They do exist however at the National Archives and you should be able to procure his file through a service provided by these message boards, see:
