Chapman's Battery of Monroe County, VA (now WV)

Would anyone happen to have a period photograph of a uniformed member of G.B. Chapman's Battery of Monroe County, VA (now WV)?

My g.g. grandfather served with this battery and was its first fatality, being killed in action at the Battle of Fayetteville, VA in September 1862. He had fired several rounds from his 24 pdr. howitzer at Union earthen fortifications, and was in the act of preparing a friction primer to fire another round when he was shot in the head by incoming fire and killed instantly.

I have a prewar photograph of him and his wife, and some detailed letters about his service and death written during the war.

I have often wondered if members of his battery wore the "prescribed" Confederate artillerists' uniform, or more likely a combination of civilian and/or military clothing.

Any input from those knowledgeable with artillerists' uniforms from this battery would be much appreciated!

Mike
