Union Artillery at Tupelo

There are several Federal batteries listed on the Order of Battle that do not seem to have actually been in the fight.

The 1st Illinois Light Artillery, Battery K, supposedly attached to Winslow's Brigade of the Cavalry Division, is not mentioned in any reports. (In his report Winslow commends Brown & Abraham for commanding batteries but this is an error, they commanded battalions.)

The 9th Indiana Battery, attached to Wilkin's (Murray's) Brigade, Moore's Division. Not mentioned in any reports. I do have a diary from a member of the battery who mentions "3 teams and 20 men" attached to the 3rd Indiana Battery a few days before the campaign commences. These were non-veterans, the rest of the battery was leaving on veteran furlough.

The 14th Indiana Battery, attached to Wolfe's Brigade, Moore's Division. Again, I think these were non-veterans attached to 2nd Illinois Light Artillery, Battery G. The 14th lost 2 guns a few weeks before at Brice's Crossroads.

Any info on these three batteries would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom
