I learned recently that the statue marking the N. Y. 4th Light Artillery (Smith Battery) was pulled down by vandals in Feb. 2006. The National Park Service has not found the head of the statue. the base of the monument is still in place at Little Round top where my gr great grandfather held off Hoods Texans from taking the position. Is there any interest in SUVCW organizations to help restore this monument to its original form?
