artillery bucket

I had this question posted elsewhere and it was suggested that i submit my inquiry here in the arty section. I was inquiring as to the possibility of the bucket in question being a cw period artillery water bucket. It measures about 8 1/2" tall to the top of the rim with a diameter of about 6 5/8" dia. Appears to be fairly well made. It is quite heavy and built for rough service. The two responses that I received thought that since it did not match the most recognized pattern union bucket it must be something else. In the period photos I have reviewed there was a wide variety used. However, I did not see a perfect match so they may be correct. Has anyone seen this particular bucket before and what was its use?

Larry
